So, I have 4 processes summing up to 313 MB and I haven't even starting using skype yet. Is this normal behavior? Are all those processes necessary for the typical operation of skype? Could I kill some of them (I guess not but I am asking to be sure). Is there a way to reduce the memory footprint of skype anyway?
I was curious if you know this technical problem I am having. My current setup: I have a Grace Design m101 external preamp my microphone is in that then I have a trs to trs cable going from the balanced output on there to a line level input on my UR 242 steinberg audio interface Line level inputs on back of unit It works when I record on Adobe Audition CS6 using the audio mapping on there i select input 3. but when I go on skype that is another story it only shows audio interface steinberg unit no selection for input 3? how can skype use my microphone then?
Okay so here's the deal, I was playing minecraft with a friend (no I'm not 10, we just got bored) and we were skyping. I was getting a constant 40 fps with drops to around 20. He was getting a constant 110 with drops down to around 90 fps. The thing is though, I have a gtx 750 ti, and he has intel integrated graphics. Granted he did have all of his particles turned off but still, I should be getting much higher. So, my first trouble shooting idea is to just turn off my particles. Aaaand that bumped me up to only about 50 fps. So the next logical step was maybe skype was screwing something up in the background. And boy was skype messing with it. As soon as I closed it i was getting a constant 400 fps (and yes my particles are back on at this point). So my question is, how is it that my friends skype doesn't affect his fps at all, or not noticeably at least, but my computer meant for gaming can't.
